Stony Plain, alongside local artist Daphne Cote, will be unveiling a new mural dedicated to the youth of the community in the CN Rail Tunnel on July 18 at 4:30 p.m.

The new mural, entitled “Riders”, is the first non-historical mural commissioned by the Town. It depicts Stony Plain’s active riders at the BMX Park and the skateboard Park.  In 2017, an event was held at the Stony Plain Youth Centre where youth of the community, staff members and Cote worked together to paint the mural.

Chantelle Laberge, Culture & Tourism Development Officer, says, “After installation delays due to construction, it’s wonderful to see this project come to completion. It was a collaborative effort between many individuals and the spirit of teamwork and community is an important value of our Town.”

The mural was originally planned to be unveiled in 2017, but due to further construction on the Pedestrian CN Rail tunnel, the mural was unable to be installed until 2019.
