National Day of Awareness for Moose Hide Campaign - May 16, 2024
WHEREAS May 16 is the National Day of Awareness for the Moose Hide Campaign in Canada; and
WHEREAS this National Day is set aside to take action and raise awareness of the movement to engage men and boys in ending violence toward women and children; and
WHEREAS the nationwide movement includes Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians from communities, First Nations, governments, schools, colleges/universities, police forces and many other organizations; and
WHEREAS surrounding Indigenous Nations continue to experience loss of loved ones and continue to experience trauma from the effects of Residential Schools; and
WHEREAS the Town of Stony Plain commits to demonstrate solidarity with the impacted families in Stony Plain and surrounding area; and in the spirit of reconciliation.
THEREFORE, I, Mayor William Choy, of the Town of Stony Plain, do hereby proclaim May 16, 2024 as the "National Day of Awareness for Moose Hide Campaign".
