Nominations Open for Ambassador of Action Award and Award of Creative Excellence
The Town of Stony Plain is now accepting nominations for two awards: the Ambassador of Action Business Award and the Award of Creative Excellence. Both awards will be presented at the Stony Plain and District Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet on November 1.
The Ambassador of Action Award is presented annually to a local business that has shown significant growth and improvement while making a contribution to the community. Eligible nominees must have a valid Town of Stony Plain business license and, in the past year, made an investment in their facility, created new jobs, offered new or enhanced products or services, and generated public exposure as a result of their success.
“Stony Plain is home to many fantastic businesses. The hard work of business owners is evident in the pride they take in their operations, their dedication to serving customers, and their continual efforts to grow and improve,” says Economic Development Officer Shawn McCauley. “We encourage residents to give a local business the recognition it deserves by nominating it for the Ambassador of Action Business Award.”
The Award of Creative Excellence is also presented annually to individuals, businesses, organizations, or non-profits that elevate the creative culture in Stony Plain. Eligible nominees should provide opportunities for public engagement, encourage inclusion by breaking down barriers to participating in arts and culture, promote economic stability for creative industry, and demonstrate excellence in their field.
“Creativity and culture are two inherent aspects of Stony Plain’s personality, and we realized how important it is to recognize leaders of these traits in our community,” says Culture and Tourism Development Officer Chantelle Laberge. “If you know of an individual or group making strides in creative industry in Stony Plain, nominate them for the Award of Creative Excellence to help give them valuable publicity and exposure.”
“Stony Plain is home to both a thriving business sector and a vibrant creative scene, and there are many individuals, groups, and businesses worthy of these awards,” says Mayor William Choy. “Submit your nominations today; it’s a quick and easy way to express your appreciation of our local business ambassadors and cultural innovators for their hard work and commitment to our community.”
