Nominations Open for Ambassador of Action Business Award and Award of Creative Excellence
The Town of Stony Plain is now accepting nominations for the Ambassador of Action Business Award and the Award of Creative Excellence. The annual awards are designed to recognize leaders within the community and bring awareness and exposure to Stony Plain’s vibrant business and creative scene. Both awards will be presented at the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet on October 23, 2020.
The Ambassador of Action Business Award is presented to a local business that has shown tremendous growth and support for the community. Eligible nominees must have a valid Town of Stony Plain business license and, in the past year, made an investment in their facility, created new jobs, offered new or enhanced products or services, and generated public exposure as a result of their success.
“Our local businesses are the driving force of Stony Plain. We are home to a number of passionate and determined business owners who year after year, demonstrate a drive for growing their businesses and supporting our community,” says Economic Development Officer Shawn McCauley. “Nominating a local business for the Ambassador of Action Business Award is an opportunity for residents to recognize the businesses that make Stony Plain the town we know it to be.”
Also up for nominations is the Award of Creative Excellence. Entering its third year, the annual award recognizes businesses, organizations, non-profits, or individuals that elevate creative culture in Stony Plain. Eligible nominees should provide opportunities for public engagement, encourage inclusion by breaking down barriers to participating in the arts, promote economic stability for the creative industry, and demonstrate excellence in their field.
“It is no secret that Stony Plain is home to a diversity of artists and creative leaders. Creativity and culture are deeply imbedded in the makeup of our town,” says Culture and Tourism Development Officer Chantelle Laberge. “The Award of Creative Excellence is a great opportunity for leaders in our creative industry to receive public recognition for their work and gain exposure in the community.”
“Stony Plain has a vibrant business community and a thriving creative scene that have both grown alongside our town,” says Mayor William Choy. “These awards provide businesses, organizations, and individuals with an opportunity to be recognized for their hard work and dedication. I encourage everyone to get involved and submit a nomination!”
