Observe National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Stony Plain
STONY PLAIN, AB: Join the Stony Plain community in observing National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at Heritage Park on September 30 from 11 AM to 2 PM. This event is dedicated to fostering understanding, healing, and connection through a day of listening, reflection, and action.
Come wearing an orange shirt and participate in a powerful day of learning and healing. The event will begin with opening remarks and an indigenous drumming session, followed by a community feast and traditional dancing demonstrations.
Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to engage with elders who will share their wisdom on the importance of preserving traditions. Visit information stations, explore orange shirt displays, and listen to stories that highlight the significance of this day.
“National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is an opportunity for us all to reflect,” says Mayor William Choy. “The event at Heritage Park on September 30 will create space for healing, listening and reflection. I encourage everyone to attend.”
“Reconciliation is a journey we must make together as a community,” says Community Development Officer Deanna Butz. “This event is about making connections, building bridges between communities, and inspiring hope for a brighter future together.”
