The 10th annual Ambassador of Action Business Award was awarded to Pet Foods Etc. at the District Chamber of Commerce’s Awards Night. Local pet supply store owners Wes and Cynthia Hohnstein joined us on stage to accept their award at the gala hosted at Heritage Park.

This year, the Growth and Commerce Committee selected the winner from a pool of five nominees: Lady and the Tramp Pet Resort, Shelly’s Finds, Pet Foods Etc., The Naked Pooch, and Kids@Play Daycare and Out-of-School-Care (OSC). The annual Ambassador of Action Business Award celebrates local companies who demonstrate growth through improvement and expansion, and all nominations come from within the community.

Located in the heart of Stony Plain on Main Street, Pet Foods Etc. has been servicing our community since 2006. Owners Wes and Cynthia Hohnstein know firsthand what it is to provide animals a loving home, and their dedication to their own companions extends to caring for our town’s pets. The pair prides themselves on friendly customer service as well as product knowledge and experience tending to the needs of four-legged housemates. In addition to providing your furry friend’s chow and toys, Pet Food Etc. keeps our community clean by supplying waste pick-up bags to trail systems and the off-leash park.

“Pets bring such joy to our residents’ lives and it is important that we have places for owners to access the best supplies and information,” says Mayor William Choy. “Wes and Cynthia have created a business environment that is approachable, reliable, and trusted by our community. We love our furry friends here in town, and we are grateful for the outstanding service Pet Foods Etc. has and continues to provide.”

“Pet Foods Etc. is a very deserving recipient and an important business to our community,” says Economic Development Officer Shawn McCauley. “They have made substantial investment into their business and continue to be recognized for their generous efforts with the bike program where they repair used bikes and donate them back into the community.”

Thank you to everyone in our community for your nominations, and congratulations to our winner and runner-up’s! Local businesses keep our community thriving and we look forward to watching them continue grow.
