Regular Council Meeting Highlights for January 25, 2021
Council Policy Review
Council repealed several policies and approved an addition to the Council Policy during last night’s meeting. After a review of all Town policies, Administration recommended a series of changes to existing Council policies. The policies recommended for repeal are no longer required as they have been developed into a procedure or included in a bylaw. The approved changes will be posted to the Town website.

Council Approves Application to Alberta Community Partnership Grant
With Council’s approval, Administration is moving forward with an application to the Alberta Community Partnership Grant. Valued at $200,000, the grant would support initiatives to align services and projects between the Town of Stony Plain, City of Spruce Grove, and Parkland County through the Tri-Municipal Regional Plan. The response to the grant application will be announced by the Government of Alberta later in the year.

Q4 2020 Strategic Plan and Corporate Plan Initiatives Presented to Council
The 2020 year is wrapping up with the presentation of the Strategic Plan and Corporate Plan Q4 Report. Each quarter, Administration presents reports to Council which monitor measurable outcomes aligning with the Strategic and Corporate Plans. Due to COVID-19, a number of projects have been delayed and carried over from 2020. The Town will continue to monitor the ongoing impacts of the pandemic and adjust plans accordingly.
The next update for Q1 2021 will be presented to Council in April.

Stony Plain Poverty Reduction Strategy Draft
Stony Plain is moving forward with the Poverty Reduction Strategy. Stony Plain Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) presented a draft strategy to Council last night. Poverty reduction work began in 2014 and over the years, community engagement and participation has guided the development of a strategy for addressing poverty and homelessness in the community.
The final report will be brought to Council next quarter.
