Subdivision and Development Appeal Board Bylaw Receives First, Second and Third Readings
At last night’s meeting, Council considered changes to the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB) bylaw (2685/G/24), to enhance its effectiveness. The changes include establishing an honorarium for SDAB members, restructuring the composition to allow for more flexible scheduling, providing ongoing training for board members, and selecting the chair for each hearing from among the members. The aim is to ensure fairness, independence, and expertise in land use decision-making. The proposed amendments align with legislative requirements and aim to streamline processes while maintaining impartiality.
Council passed first, second and third readings for bylaw 2685/G/24, formally adopting it.

Committee Governance Framework Bylaw Received First, Second and Third Readings
Council has considered a new bylaw (2684/G/24) to establish a governance framework for Council-appointed committees, aiming to enhance transparency and clarity in decision-making processes. The bylaw outlines guidelines for committee formation, including their purpose, composition, and reporting mechanisms to Council. Once passed, it also repeals three existing Council policies related to committee governance. The framework allows for diverse community participation and proposes recognition activities for committee members, including increased training and professional development opportunities.

Council Compensation and Expenses Review Accepted for Information
As per the Council Compensation and Expense Policy that was updated in January 2024, Administration will conduct an administrative review. The aim is to ensure fair and adequate compensation for Elected Officials in alignment with comparable municipalities and market standards.
Council accepted the report for information.
