Significant Names Registry Updated

In 2020, Administration developed a Town Naming Policy to establish a coordinated and consistent naming process and framework. On October 24, 2022, Council established the Significant Names Registry. Names on the registry can be added or removed based on applications by the public and recommendations from Administration. Names may be applied to features such as trails, parks, and roads as per the Naming Policy.

At last night’s Council meeting, the name Alastair Grant was added to the Significant Names Registry. Alastair Grant is a long-time business owner in Stony Plain, with notable contributions as a charter member, founder, and past president of the Stony Plain Rotary Club, board member of the Yellowhead Credit Union, and a chairman of the board in his church organization. In addition, he significantly contributed to the vision and planning of the now completed multi-use trail along Highway 16A connecting Spruce Grove and Stony Plain.
