Stony Plain’s Heart Goes Out to Jasper During Wildfires
STONY PLAIN, AB: The Town of Stony Plain has been following the developments of the Jasper wildfire. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this devastating event, and we thank all first responders for their incredible work.
Stony Plain is in regular communication with the Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) and is prepared to mobilize resources and support if it is requested. All requests for assistance will come directly from the AEMA. Possible support from Stony Plain could include:
- Dispatching firefighting and emergency personnel to assist on the front lines.
- Providing support services for evacuees if requested.
- Collaborating with local organizations to offer additional aid.
“The situation is heartbreaking, and Stony Plain stands with the residents of Jasper,” says Mayor William Choy. “We are thinking of the emergency personnel working on the front lines and thankful for their efforts in protecting this beloved National and Provincial treasure.”
