Town Receives Ninth Consecutive Canadian Award for Financial Reporting
The Town of Stony Plain’s 2019 Annual Report has been recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for their Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (CanFR). This is the ninth consecutive year the Town has received the award.
Reports submitted to the CanFR program undergo an intensive review process by select members of the GFOA and a review committee. Criteria for the award includes the spirit of full disclosure designed to clearly communicate a municipality’s financial story. Only after reaching a shared consensus between the GFOA and the review panel that the submission complies with standards set by the Public Sector Accounting Board of the Chartered Professional Accountants is the award distributed.
“It is an honour to receive this award. We strive to be leaders in government financial reporting, and the Annual Report is one of many reports we use to educate our community and strengthen our relationship through transparency,” says Teri Stewart, Manager of Financial Services.
