Winter Light Up Returns to Usher in the Holidays
Get ready for a month of holiday cheer! Winter Light Up is returning to Stony Plain. This year’s event features the return of the in-person tree light up on Main Street and the virtual holiday advent calendar.
An evening of local shopping and the lighting of the Town Tree will take place along Main Street on December 1 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Participating businesses will provide free festive treats and treasures for shoppers and a DJ will be on location playing holiday classics. Santa will also be in town for family photos and will join Mayor William Choy for the tree lighting at 8:30 p.m.
“It’s not the holidays in Stony Plain without the lighting of the Town Tree! Winter Light Up is a local favourite and it really brings the magic of the holiday season to the community. The evening is a great opportunity to get out, explore local businesses, and share some holiday cheer with your neighbours,” says Mayor William Choy.
“The annual tree lighting is a longstanding tradition in Stony Plain that draws an incredible crowd each year. We are excited to have the event back in-person for an evening of local shopping and holiday cheer. Come on out and welcome in the holidays with us!” says Event Coordinator Tevra Graham.
In addition to the tree light up event, an online advent calendar will run throughout December. Family-friendly holiday activities will be posted to the Town Calendar featuring festive recipes, activities, colouring contests, and more.
