Family Violence Awareness Month
November is Family Violence Prevention Month in Alberta. Our province reports the third highest rate of self-reported spousal violence among Canadian provinces.
Each year, the Town of Stony Plain collaborates with community partners to increase awareness of the resources and supports available so that our community can work together to end family violence and build healthier relationships in our communities.

November 2023
November is Family Violence Prevention Month (FVPM) but family violence and domestic abuse occur all year long. Our campaign - Be Empowered 365.
This year, community partners have created two resources to be distributed throughout the month of November:
- ‘’Be Empowered 365’’ community calendars share ways to support friends and family in need.
- ‘’Be Empowered 365’’ clings/stickers can be displayed on windows/walls/washroom stalls, etc. of businesses and organizations all year long (starting in November).
