National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to celebrate the vibrancy and impact of volunteerism in our community and across our country. Every April, we come together to recognize volunteers and celebrate the power of volunteerism in our communities.

This year’s National Volunteer Week theme is ‘Volunteers Make Waves’.

This year’s week takes place from April 27 to May 4 with the theme of "Volunteers Make Waves." According to the Volunteer Canada website, “Water is in constant motion, always flowing, shifting, and transforming with every powerful wave or quiet ripple. And so is each volunteer’s contribution toward creating impact in our communities.”

The local campaign will celebrate the contributions of our region’s volunteers and share information on how we can all work toward a stronger, and more connected community.

Volunteers throughout Stony Plain, Spruce Grove, and Parkland County are invited to attend a celebration evening or a twoonie swim.

  • Volunteer Appreciation Night at Heritage Park, (5100 41 Ave, Stony Plain), in the Spruce Grove Hall on April 30th from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM (all ages).
  • Volunteers Make Waves! Sponsored Twoonie Swim (all ages) at the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre on April 26th from 6 PM - 9 PM

Visit the Stony Plain Public Library, Spruce Grove Public Library, Parkland County Libraries or Entwistle Public Library during National Volunteer Week to see current volunteer opportunities.

National Volunteer Week Activities can be found on the Town of Stony Plain Community Calendar.
