Proclamations
A proclamation is an official public announcement or declaration issued by the Town of Stony Plain intended to increase public awareness of an important issue, specific matter, or specific event. A proclamation may recognize a day, week or month.
Stony Plain Town Council recognizes the importance of public awareness campaigns, charitable events, art and culture celebrations and organizations' special honours. Town Council also recognizes the value of proclamations as a way to promote, educate, inform and bring public awareness in these areas. Proclamations declared by the Town of Stony Plain are based on a framework that ensures all requests are dealt with consistently.
Proclamation Criteria |
- Every request requires a completed Proclamation Request Form accompanied by a draft copy of the proposed full proclamation.
- A completed request form must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance of the proclamation date.
- If no draft copy is received, the proclamation will not be considered.
- The Town of Stony Plain may edit and revise the wording of the proclamation at its discretion.
- Proclamations must be requested by a registered charitable or non-profit society and meet at least one of the following criteria:
- public awareness campaign;
- charitable fundraising campaign;
- arts and culture celebration;
- special honours for an organization.
- The Town will not provide media coverage for proclamations.
- Proclamations will not be put onto a council meeting agenda and will not be read out at a council meeting.
- A request for proclamation will not be considered if it:
- is determined to be of political controversy, religious beliefs or individual conviction;
- is determined to be intended for commercial or profit-making purposes;
- advocates discrimination, hatred, violence or racism;
- is contrary to the Town of Stony Plain's policies or bylaws.

Celebratory Certificates
Mayor's Celebratory Certificates are custom certificates issued and signed by the Mayor to celebrate milestone birthdays, wedding anniversaries and non-profit organization milestone anniversaries.
Certificate Criteria |
- The recipient of the Celebratory Certificate must be a resident of Stony Plain.
- Every request requires a completed Celebratory Certificate Form which must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance of the date required.
- Birthday Certificates are issued starting at 70th birthdays and every 5 years thereafter.
- Wedding Anniversary Certificates are issued starting at 40th wedding anniversaries and every 5 years thereafter.
- Non-profit Anniversary Certificates are issued starting at 25th anniversaries and every 5 years thereafter.

Town Hall Tours
The Town Hall tour starts inside Council Chambers with an overview of municipal government and the roles and responsibilities of Mayor and Town Council. You will then have the opportunity to visit the Mayor's Office, Town Manager's Office and the common areas of Town Hall. If you would like to book a tour please complete the Town Hall Tour Request Form at least 3 weeks in advance of the date you wish to book.
Additional Information |
- Town Hall tours are limited to no more than 30 people, including students, teachers and chaperones
- The tour could take up to 45 minutes
- Every effort will be made to accommodate your initial request date, however, the date may need to be adjusted according to the Mayor's availability
- There is no charge for a Town Hall Tour
