Fire Prevention Week 2020 is here! This year’s educational campaign is focused on fire safety in the kitchen and will run from October 4 to October 10.
Alberta Transportation has a busy weekend ahead with more work being completed on the Highway 779 construction project. Crews will be pouring the concrete sidewalk tie-ins at the 51 Avenue intersection, pouring the sidewalk extensions and para ramps at the Westerra Drive pedestrian crosswalk, and pouring the concrete bases for the pedestrian crosswalk flasher poles at 50 Avenue throughout the day today.
On Monday, October 5, the south access to St. John Paul II School from 48 Street will be permanently closed and removed.
Beginning the morning of Saturday, October 3 there will be no vehicle access to or from the rear lanes to 51 Avenue. All four lane accesses will be closed to vehicle traffic, but will remain open to pedestrians.
Alberta Transportation (AT) has informed the Town the Highway 779 project is scheduled to be extended into the 2021 construction season. The project’s original completion date was set for July 31, 2019 by AT, but the project has encountered a number of issues related to utilities within the CN Rail right-of-way, inclement weather, and poor subgrade conditions.
Crews will be working on paving the road on 44 Avenue between St. Andrews Drive and St.
Alberta Transportation has informed the Town work is wrapping up on the Highway 779 Construction Project for the year. The permanent line markings and crosswalk markings at Westerra Drive, Willow Heights Road and between 79 Avenue and Willow Park Road North were placed on October 30.
Construction season is coming to its end and the Downtown Redevelopment project is preparing for winter.
