Industrial Permit Value Jumps in Quarter 3 Marking a Year of Strong Growth for Stony Plain

Stony Plain continues to build on its success with another strong quarter for construction permits issued in 2025. Residential development remains steady, driven by strong demand for new housing, while residents are also investing in their properties through alterations and additions.

The standout story for quarter three is the surge in industrial development. After issuing one industrial permit valued at $1 million earlier this year, the Town approved two additional industrial permits in the third quarter, totaling $5.2 million in estimated construction value, a significant leap that highlights investor confidence and growing business interest in Stony Plain.

Q3 2025 Permit Data Highlights

Permit Type Number Issued Estimated Construction Value
Residential 43 $13.1 million
Commercial - -
Industrial 2 $5.2 million
Alterations and Additions 74 $2.8 million
Miscellaneous 14 $38,300

“These numbers are exciting but not surprising for those who know Stony Plain,” says Mayor William Choy. “People are choosing our community not only as a place to live, but as a place to grow, invest, and build a future. We have worked hard to create a thriving and competitive community in the Edmonton Region, and it’s rewarding to see that effort reflected in this growth.”

Michelle Levasseur, Economic Development Manager adds “Stony Plain has a compelling value proposition for investors. From our development incentives along major highway corridors and infill sites, to one of the lowest non-residential tax rates in the region, we are well-positioned to welcome and support major projects. We have the partnerships, land, and a strong community to keep this momentum going.”

Planning and Development Manager Miles Dibble shared his excitement as well saying “This has been a remarkable year for development in Stony Plain. The pace of activity we’re seeing could make 2025 one of the most successful years in our community’s history for permits issued. It’s an incredible time to be part of this growth story.”

As the year moves toward its final quarter, Stony Plain’s message is clear: now is the time to invest, build, and belong. Whether you are a business looking to expand, or a family ready to settle down, Stony Plain offers opportunity, community, and momentum for the future.
