Broadband

Stony Plain’s infrastructure is primarily Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial. Pure Fibre is also present and active throughout the community. Speeds are available up to 1,000 Mb/s downstream and 100 Mb/s upstream.

Current State

Nearly 90% of our subdivisions have access to infrastructure that provides high-speed broadband services. Recent measurements show median service at 302 Mb/s downstream and 28 Mb/s upstream. Stony Plain is well-positioned for the increasing demands of the future. Work is underway to upgrade infrastructure to support fibre optic internet access beginning in August of 2025.

Future State

We recognize that high-speed, high-quality, reliable broadband connectivity is vital for businesses and residents. Opportunities to fill the few existing service gaps and improve connectivity for residents and businesses will be explored.
