Annual Shred-It Event Returns to Stony Plain
Get your papers ready for the return of Shred-It! The paper shredding event is returning to the Rotary Recycling Centre on Saturday, September 24 from 9AM – 1PM.
The annual Shred-It event provides an opportunity for Stony Plain residents to safely dispose of personal and confidential documents at no cost. Shredding is a secure way to dispose of confidential documents including – but not limited to – financial documents, personal information, account details (passwords and login information), and mail.
“Disposing of personal information safely and securely reduces the chances of fraud and helps keep your information safe. Shred-It is a fantastic initiative that not only protects residents, but also complements ongoing environmental initiatives aimed at reducing waste sent to the landfill,” says Mayor William Choy. “I encourage residents to take advantage of the free service!”
The following event guidelines will be in place:
- Shredding is for Stony Plain residents only and participants must provide identification with Stony Plain residency.
- Businesses are not eligible for free shredding.
- A 10-bankers box limit is in place – participants cannot return with additional material.
- No advance drop-offs will be accepted. Please arrive within the 9AM – 1PM time frame.
“Shred-It is an accessible opportunity for residents to dispose of personal documents safely and contribute to local sustainability efforts. The event tends to be quite popular in the community, and we are glad we are able to bring it back again this fall,” says Supervisor of Utilities and Environment Doug Fraser.
