Celebrate Halloween with the Haunted House Hunt and Graveyard Groove!
STONY PLAIN, AB: Spooky sights and frights are back in Stony Plain! This year, Stony Plain is bringing the chills, thrills, and Halloween fun with three community events: the Halloween Haunted House Hunt, the Graveyard Groove Haunted House, and Trunk or Treat!
The Halloween Haunted House Hunt begins on October 19 and will run until October 23, or until all the houses are found. Five miniature, dollhouse-size haunted houses will be hidden around Stony Plain in public spaces. Daily clues will be posted on the Halloween page each morning at 9 AM, and a new house will be hidden when each house is discovered. Lucky house hunters can bring the found houses to Town Hall (4905 51 Avenue) during regular business hours to claim their prize (limit of one prize per person).
On October 24 from 11 AM to 4 PM, Heritage Park will transform into the Graveyard Groove. Entry is free, but participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food or monetary donation for the Parkland Food Bank.
Graveyard Groove is a terrifyingly spooky haunted house with an option for a less frightening tour for kids and families. Attendees are encouraged to wear their best Halloween costumes.
Visitors can also enjoy a variety of fun activities:
- VR Escape Room
- Balloon artist
- Fortune teller
- Crafts
- Live DJ
- Roaming performances
- Live stage shows
- Screening of The Corpse Bride (2005)
- The Haunted Snack Shack, provided by the Stony Plain Youth Events Team (cash or tap accepted)
Outside of the haunted house, Trunk or Treat will be happening in the Heritage Park parking lot from 11 AM–4 PM. Local businesses, non-profits, and community organizations will decorate their trunks and hand out treats.
“It’s so exciting to bring these three events back for Halloween this year,” says Lori Van Dommelen, Event Coordinator. “There is something for everyone, whether you’re prepared to be scared or just looking for some Halloween treats!”
“Halloween is a fantastic time of year in Stony Plain,” says Mayor William Choy. “These events are about community spirit and letting your creativity shine. Dress in your best costume and come for the fun at Heritage Park!”
