Celebrate PITCH-IN Week and Earth Day 2023 by Contributing to a Cleaner Community
Stony Plain, AB: Grab your picker sticks and garbage bags – PITCH-IN Week is returning to Stony Plain! From April 15 to April 23, residents can volunteer their time to making their community more environmentally friendly by cleaning up, restoring, and preserving local greenspace.
PITCH-IN is an active year long program with a focus surrounding Earth Day which happens April 22. It is a partnership between municipalities, the media, industry and the public. Volunteers take part in locally organized clean ups to support clean and litter free communities.
“PITCH-IN Week is a wonderful way for residents to get together, enjoy the outdoors, and improve the community in which they live,” says Operations Administrative Assistant Patricia Cook. Everyone is welcome to participate in this collective action that promotes a more sustainable and healthy community.”
“Promoting environmental sustainability is a key focus for the Town. Events like PITCH-IN Week provide residents with an opportunity to learn more about green initiatives while coming together as a community,” says Mayor William Choy. “I encourage everyone to do their part by joining the effort to keep our neighborhoods clean and litter-free!”
Residents, schools, and organizations can register for PITCH-IN Week 2023 on the Town website. Registered volunteers will be provided with collection bags and disposable gloves. Registration will close on April 6, 2023 at 4:30PM.
