Citizenship Ceremony Welcomes New Canadians in Stony Plain

STONY PLAIN, AB: 91 individuals from 29 nations celebrated becoming Canada’s newest citizens during a citizenship ceremony in Stony Plain this week. The ceremony, hosted in partnership between the Town of Stony Plain and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), continued the community’s proud tradition of embracing new Canadians.

“The Citizenship Ceremony reflects our community’s spirit of unity and welcome,” said Mayor William Choy. “It is a privilege to host this meaningful event and to embrace our newest citizens as they join the vibrant and diverse communities throughout our region.”

The Town of Stony Plain remains committed to supporting diversity and recognizing the many benefits a vibrant, multicultural population brings to the community. Hosting citizenship ceremonies supports these goals and aligns with the Town’s Strategic Plan to enhance and promote a sense of belonging and inclusion.

“Our goal is for everyone to feel welcomed and supported in our community,” said Culture and Tourism Developer Linda Prokott. “The citizenship ceremonies not only welcome new Canadians to our community, they also showcase Stony Plain’s dedication to nurturing diversity and enriching our shared cultural landscape.”
