Community Recreation Facility Project Reaches Nearly 60% Completion

STONY PLAIN, AB: Construction of Stony Plain’s new Community Recreation Facility continues to move forward, with the project nearing 60% completion and remaining on schedule and on budget. The facility is currently on track for completion in Q4 2026.

Administration provided an update to Council on the project during the May 4 Council Meeting. Recent construction milestones include progress on the roof installation, interior finishing, curling ice slab preparation, running track frame installation, and mechanical system installation. Upcoming work will focus on parking lot grading and paving, exterior finishes, windows, interior finishes, the fieldhouse slab, curling slab, and ice plant installation.

“This facility is an important investment in the future of recreation in Stony Plain,” says Mayor William Choy. “It is exciting to see construction progressing and to know we are one step closer to providing residents and regional users with more opportunities to gather, play, and stay active.”
