Contribute to your Community by Joining a Council Appointed Board

The Town of Stony Plain is beginning its annual recruitment for volunteers to participate on Council appointed advisory boards. Applications for Citizen-at-Large positions are open to Stony Plain and Parkland County community members.

Council appointed boards and committees provide information, advice, and recommendations to Council and Administration. Each board oversees a specific area of focus within the community and works to enhance civic engagement and local development. Positions vary in term length and applicants are required to participate in an interview process before being appointed to a board.

The Town is currently recruiting the following positions:

  • Planning and Advisory Committee: five openings, Stony Plain residents or business owners
  • Cultural Roundtable: three openings, two Stony Plain residents or business owners and one Stony Plain artist
  • Subdivision and Development Appeal Board: four openings, Stony Plain residents
  • Stony Plain Public Library Board: three openings, Stony Plain and Parkland County residents
  • Community and Social Development Roundtable: five openings, Stony Plain and Parkland County residents

“Council appointed boards give residents a chance to get involved and have direct input on important developments in Stony Plain. I encourage those who are interested in being a decision-maker in their community to learn more about the openings and apply!” says Mayor William Choy.

“Joining a board is a great opportunity for residents to contribute to decision-making that impacts the future of Stony Plain,” says Town Manager Tom Goulden. “There are several positions on different boards that are a good fit for a diversity of candidates.”

Applicants can apply through an online form or by downloading and bringing in a hard copy form to Town Office by September 5, 2022. Council will appoint board members at the Organizational Meeting in October. More information on each board can be found on the Stony Plain website.
