Council Approves the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan Update

STONY PLAIN, AB: Council is pleased to announce the updated 2024-2027 release of the Strategic Plan, which was approved at last night’s meeting. The Strategic Plan represents the Town’s forward-thinking efforts to achieve the vision for Stony Plain and ensures its leadership remains focused on key priorities.

The Strategic Plan is reviewed and updated annually. The 2024-2027 update reflects Stony Plain’s commitment to enhancing governance, promoting economic growth, investing in infrastructure, enhancing community development, and preserving the environment. These priority areas bridge Council’s vision to tangible goals and actions which enhance the future of Stony Plain.

“At the heart of our Strategic Plan lies the vision of a thriving and resilient community – one where opportunities are plentiful, connections flourish, and sustainability is paramount,” says Mayor William Choy. “Through collaborative efforts and a steadfast commitment to our strategic pillars, Stony Plain will continue to be a place we are proud to call home.”

Outlined within the Strategic Plan are five key pillars:

• Governance & Partners: We embrace and foster partnerships and relationships that support community values, collaborative leadership, and sustainable growth.
• Community Development: We develop and deliver events, amenities, and value-add services that create a safe, culturally rich, diverse, and self-sufficient community.
• Supportive Infrastructure: We focus on short and long-term capital planning supported by best practices for asset management to maintain, improve, and develop the infrastructure and amenities that support a high quality of life.
• Economic Opportunity: We promote economic opportunities through proactive actions that support our current business community and attract new business to Stony Plain.
• Environmental Responsibility: We take practical, balanced, sustainable actions to protect the environment for our residents, today and in the future.
