Councillor Pat Hansard Receives Alberta Municipalities Distinguished Service Award

STONY PLAIN, AB: The Town of Stony Plain is proud to announce that Councillor Pat Hansard has been awarded the Alberta Municipalities Distinguished Service Award. The award is presented annually to recognize municipal elected officials who have served 20 or more years in an Alberta municipality. Councillor Hansard, currently serving her sixth term on Council, was first elected in 2001 and has served the community for over two decades.


“I extend my sincere congratulations to Councillor Hansard for reaching this incredible milestone,” says Mayor William Choy. “I’ve had the honour to serve with Councillor Hansard for many years. Her enduring service reflects an unwavering dedication to the community, and her expertise, wisdom, and passion have left a lasting impact on Stony Plain.”


Councillor Hansard is the longest-serving female elected official in Stony Plain’s history. Over the past 44 years, she has sat on various Town boards, committees, and commissions, including the Meridian Housing Foundation, Family and Community Support Services, and the Growth and Commerce Committee. She has been recognized with several honours, including the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award, the Royal Order of British Columbia Award, and the Alberta Courage to Serve Award. These acknowledgements reflect her long-standing commitment to public service and her positive impact on the community.
