Experience Alberta Culture Days in Stony Plain

STONY PLAIN, AB: Alberta Culture Days returns to Stony Plain this September, with events celebrating the community's rich arts, culture, heritage, and diversity. Residents and visitors are invited to discover local artists, explore history, experience Indigenous teachings, and connect with the people and organizations that make Stony Plain unique.

In partnership with the Government of Alberta, local organizations, and the Town of Stony Plain, the community is proud to host this celebration of creativity and heritage.

"Alberta Culture Days is an opportunity to celebrate the creativity, traditions, and stories that make Stony Plain such a vibrant community," says Mayor William Choy. "These events bring people together to experience our rich cultural heritage while showcasing the talented artists, organizations, and volunteers who help shape our town."

Residents and visitors can enjoy a variety of free events across the community, including:

Gather & Grow Day – A community celebration at St. Andrew’s Park featuring tree planting, free activities, lunch, and opportunities to connect with neighbours.


Indoor Stony Plain Mural Tour – Join local historian Greg Hanna at the Stony Plain Public Library for an engaging presentation exploring the history, stories, and people behind Stony Plain's iconic murals and community heritage. 


Harvest Festival – Experience authentic harvest demonstrations, blacksmithing, antique machinery, model trains, and hands-on heritage activities at the Stony Plain & Parkland Pioneer Museum celebrating the region's agricultural roots. 


Horse & Wagon Mural Tours – Enjoy a guided horse and wagon tour showcasing Stony Plain's famous outdoor murals. Advance registration is required. 


Meet Stony Plain’s Artist Laureate – Visit an open studio at Red Brick Common with Artist Laureate Lisa Matthias to watch woodblock printmaking demonstrations, view completed works, and try a hands-on print rubbing activity. 


Melanin Melody Arts Collective – Celebrate African and Caribbean culture through music, dance, poetry, drumming, visual arts, and interactive family-friendly activities at Red Brick Common. 


Pioneer Art Club Show & Sale – Taking place at the Stony Plain Legion, visitors can browse original artwork, meet local artists, enjoy refreshments, and purchase unique pieces created by members of the Pioneer Art Club.
