A structure fire broke out at the Westridge Curling Club in Stony Plain on June 23 at approximately 6PM. The fire is deeply seated inside the structure and has spread rapidly across the roof. Fire crews on the scene report the 63-year old building, home to 220 Curling Club members and seven leagues, will not be recovered.

“The building was unoccupied and we have no injuries to report,” says Stony Plain Fire Chief Trevor Mistal. “Six fire trucks and 24 firefighters from the Stony Plain Fire Department and the Spruce Grove Fire Services are on the scene.”

An investigation will be carried out after the fire is contained. Further details are not available at this time and updates will be provided as fire operations are completed.
