Free Paper Shredding with Town’s Annual Shred-It Event
Get your papers ready for the return of Shred-It. On September 25, Residents will be able to bring boxes of papers to the Rotary Recycling Centre for shredding and safe disposal.
The annual Shred-It event provides an opportunity for community members to safely dispose of personal and confidential documents at no cost. Shredding is a secure way to dispose of confidential documents including, but not limited to, financial documents, personal information, account details such as passwords and login information, and mail.
“Identity theft is an ongoing security concern that all residents should be mindful of. Disposing of personal information safely and securely reduces the chances of fraud and helps keep your information safe,” says Mayor William Choy. “I encourage residents to take advantage of the free shredding service!”
“Shred-It is not only an opportunity to dispose of personal documents safely, but it’s also a great green initiative for our community,” says Ashlee Morrow, Operations Administration Assistant with Public Works. “The event provides an accessible opportunity for residents to reduce their household waste and protect their personal information at the same time.”
While a free event, restrictions are in place:
- Shredding is for Stony Plain residents only and participants must show identification with residency;
- Businesses are not eligible for free shredding;
- A 10 banker box limit is in place – participants cannot return with additional material; and
- No advance drop-offs will be accepted. Please arrive within the 9AM – 1PM time frame.
