Freedom of the Town: 299 Mackenzie Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps – May 31, 2026

WHEREAS Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Mackenzie has faithfully served the youth and community of Stony Plain for forty years, fostering citizenship, leadership, discipline, teamwork, and service among generations of young Canadians; and

WHEREAS since its establishment, 299 Mackenzie Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps has provided outstanding training, mentorship, and personal development opportunities to youth, while instilling values of duty, respect, and community responsibility; and

WHEREAS the Corps has maintained a long-standing and meaningful presence within the Town through ceremonial participation, volunteer service, civic engagement, and support of community events; and

WHEREAS the officers, instructors, volunteers, sponsoring committee members, parents, alumni, and cadets have collectively contributed thousands of hours in service to the benefit of the Town and its residents; and

WHEREAS the granting of Freedom of the Town is one of the highest civic honor's that may be bestowed, symbolizing trust, gratitude, and recognition of distinguished service to the community; and

WHEREAS it is fitting and proper to recognize forty years of dedicated service and the enduring contribution of 299 Mackenzie Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps to the civic life of Stony Plain.

THEREFORE, I, Mayor William Choy of the Town of Stony Plain, do hereby proclaim that Freedom of the Town be granted to 299 Mackenzie Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps, with all honours and privileges appertaining thereto, in recognition of forty years of distinguished service to the community.

This honour is granted this 31st day of May, 2026.
