At last night’s meeting, Barb Scully, Executive Director of the Tri Community Adult Community Learning Association (TriCALA) presented program highlights and upcoming plans to Council. TriCALA is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering adults in the Tri-Region to realize their full potential through lifelong learning. For 25 years, they have been a champion of adult education, offering a variety of programs to equip adults with the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Presentation from the Parkland Food Bank
Parkland Food Bank Executive Director, Sheri Ratsoy, presented highlights from 2024 and the first half of 2025 to Council. Sheri also shared programming plans for the food bank.
Established in 1984, the Parkland Food Bank is a non-profit organization committed to addressing food insecurity in the Tri-Region area by providing accessible, nutritious food in a respectful and dignified manner. The Town provides annual funding to the food bank and the current funding agreement provides $11,939 and $12,177 in operational funding for 2025 and 2026 respectively.

Stony Plain Public Library 2024 Annual Report Presentation
Board Chair Brenda Spitzer, Treasurer Dawn Horne, and Director Laina Kelly presented the Stony Public Library’s 2024 Annual Report to Council. The presentation included a review of the 2024 operational year and highlighted notable operations for 2025 to date. Following the presentation, Council accepted the report for information.

2024 Annual Report Accepted for Information
At last night’s meeting, Council accepted the 2024 Annual Report for information. The report was also submitted to the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) with an application for the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (CAnFR).
The Annual Report showcases the Town’s significant highlights and accomplishments, audited financial statements and statistical data from 2024. The report aims to provide an engaging recap of the year while meeting the reporting standards established by the GFOA. The Annual Report has been submitted to the GFOA annually and subsequently won the CAnFR for 13 consecutive years. Award recipients for 2024 will be announced in the spring of 2026.

Land Management Report Accepted for Information
Council accepted the Land Management Report for information following a presentation from Administration per the Land Management Policy (C-CAO-059), which requires an annual summary of:
- Current surplus land holdings with any additional identified lands recommended to be declared surplus;
- Projected land requirements; and
- Land transactions.
At the end of 2024, the Town owned land inventory was comprised of 394 lots that contained approximately 389.6 hectares of land. This represents an overall inventory increase of 5 lots and 3.7 hectares in 2024.

Residential Speed Reduction Report Accepted for Information
Following a presentation from Administration, Council accepted the Residential Speed Reduction report for information. The report reviews the benefits of residential speed reductions and provides recommendations for potential application in the Town of Stony Plain.
