Helping Shape the Community You Love: Join a Council Appointed Board
STONY PLAIN, AB: Calling all passionate, community-minded individuals! Recruitment is now open for Council appointed boards and committees. Applications for Citizen-at-Large positions are open to community members who are interested in getting involved.
Council appointed boards and committees contribute valuable insight, advice, and recommendations to Council. Each board and committee is dedicated to a specific focus area, working to strengthen civic engagement and support community development. Eligibility requirements and term length varies by committee, and an interview process is required prior to appointment.
This year, the Town is seeking individuals for the following:
Planning Advisory Committee
- One opening: Stony Plain residents or business owners
- Provides community-based input on planning-related projects requiring Council approval
Culture and Tourism Roundtable (CTR)
- Six openings: Stony Plain or Tri-Municipal Region residents
- Focuses on culture and tourism programs and events
Stony Plain Library Board
- Three openings: Stony Plain and Parkland County residents
- Manages and regulates the municipal library
Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (SDAB)
- Two openings: Stony Plain residents
- An administrative tribunal that hears appeals from a decision of the Development Authority or Subdivision Authority
Community and Social Development Roundtable
- Two openings: Stony Plain and Parkland County residents
- Works to enrich residents through a strong, healthy, connected community

“Our boards and committees are great examples of civic leadership in action,” adds Town Manager Tom Goulden. “Participating on a board offers a unique opportunity to help influence and guide the direction of Stony Plain.”
Applicants can apply online by September 10, 2025. Council will appoint board members at the Organizational Meeting in November. Application forms and more information on each board and committee can be found on our Boards and Committees webpage.
