Highway 779 Update - August 13

Alberta Transportation has updated the Town on the Highway 779 construction project. The multi-use trail along 79 Avenue between Willow Way and 48 Street has been constructed and paved and is now open for use. Crews will be working on landscaping around the trail starting mid-week, next week. As a result, 79 Avenue between Willow Way and 48 Street will be down to one lane in each direction to accommodate the grading crew. The concrete medians between 55 and 49 Avenue have been poured. Work will continue through to the middle of next week placing topsoil and mulch in the median between 55 and 52 Avenue. Installation of permanent signage will continue throughout next week with minor, localized traffic disruptions while signs are being installed. Finish grading and seeding operations will be on going over the next week which will result in temporary closure of the curb lanes to accommodate the grading crews.
