Highway 779 Update - August 26

Alberta Transportation has informed the Town that night paving will take place on 48 Street between 55 and 49 Avenue on Friday, August 27, Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, August 29 (if necessary).

Hours of operation will be between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Temporary lane closures and detours will be in place, expect delays. Crews will be working during the daytime hours through out the coming week on topsoil and sod placement, seeding and installation of permanent signs between 57 and 47 Avenue. Temporary lane closures will be in place to accommodate the work.

Line painting operations will commence on Monday, August 30 between 55 and 49 Avenue. Line painting operations are anticipated to continue all week with temporary lane closures in place. Expect delays.

Alberta Transportation has informed the Town that the 49 Avenue intersection is now paved and open to traffic. However, the contractor was not permitted to pave between the CN right-of-way limits. As a result, there is a ramped edge of asphalt at the right-of-way limit and a key cut at the tracks. Crews will coordinate with CN for permission to pave these areas. Until then, there will be bumps at the tracks and warning signs in place.
