Inspired to Lead Program Aims to Strengthen Community Leadership
STONY PLAIN, AB: The Town of Stony Plain is proud to launch Inspired to Lead!, a three-month leadership program designed to empower volunteers and strengthen community connections in Stony Plain. Developed in partnership with The Inspired Leader, the program reflects recommendations from ongoing community feedback and supports an action in the 2025-2027 Corporate Plan to enhance civic engagement through volunteerism, neighbourhood development, and leadership opportunities. Participants will build the skills, confidence, and vision to drive positive change and deepen their impact in the community. Applications are now open, with the program set to launch in March 2026.
Participants will take part in weekly virtual learning and monthly in-person sessions focused on three leadership pillars:
- Lead From Within: Self-awareness and values-based leadership
- Lead With Others: Communication, collaboration, and trust-building
- Lead for Impact: Leading meaningful community initiatives
“Inspired to Lead demonstrates our commitment to building a vibrant, connected, and resilient Stony Plain,” said Mayor William Choy. “Our residents care deeply about our community, and this program will help support and elevate local leaders who want to make a positive difference.”
“Inspired to Lead highlights the vital role volunteers play in shaping our community,” said Deanna Butz, Community Development Officer. “We are excited to help community members grow as leaders and take an active role in strengthening Stony Plain.”
The Inspired to Lead program is open to residents of Stony Plain who are eager to contribute to local initiatives and build community. For more information and to apply, visit the Volunteering webpage.
