International Day for Persons with Disabilities - December 3

WHEREAS; International Day of Persons with Disabilities is celebrated annually on December 3 across the world and has been promoted by the United Nations since 1992; and,

WHEREAS; International Day of Persons with Disabilities celebrates the value of diversity, supports education with disabilities, creates optimism and initiates accessibility actions; and,

WHEREAS; The Town of Stony Plain supports creating an inclusive society where all individuals can positively participate with equal opportunities in barrier-free communities; and,

WHEREAS; International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of people with disabilities to celebrate accessibility and diversity in Stony Plain and to recognize the importance of becoming a more inclusive town for all.

THEREFORE, I, Mayor William Choy, of the Town of Stony Plain, do hereby proclaim December 3 as International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
