Join Us in Shaping the Economic Future of Stony Plain

STONY PLAIN, AB: The Town of Stony Plain is excited to announce the development of a new Economic Development Strategy & Action Plan aimed at promoting economic activities through proactive action. This strategy will align with Council’s Strategic Plan and position Stony Plain as a vibrant and prosperous community. The document will serve as a roadmap for key areas of focus, including investment attraction, business retention and expansion, marketing and stakeholder relations, as well as research, data collection, and analysis. The Town invites all residents and stakeholders to participate in shaping the future of economic development in our community.

Over the past seven years, Stony Plain’s Economic Development activities have been guided by the 2016 Economic Development Strategic Plan, which was updated in 2019. While many of the initiatives outlined in the plan have been successfully implemented, it is now time to consider the evolving landscape and adapt our economic development efforts accordingly. Factors such as a nearly 5% population growth, over 950 active business licenses, the impact of a global pandemic, and shifting and diversifying industries have necessitated a re-evaluation of the Town’s economic strategy.

To ensure the Economic Development Strategy & Action Plan reflects the aspirations and needs of the community, the Town of Stony Plain is hosting a Community Forum on Thursday, July 27. During this session, the Town aims to listen to stakeholder perspectives, validate consistent themes and priorities, and gather valuable input to inform the vision, guiding principles, and directions of the new document.

The Town of Stony Plain invites all community members, business owners, industry leaders, and interested individuals to attend the Community Form and actively contribute to this important process. Together, let us shape the future of economic development in Stony Plain.
