Large Item Ticket Program Coming this August

A new Large Item Ticket Program is coming to Stony Plain this August. Beginning July 5, residents can purchase tickets for eligible large items to be picked up and disposed of by the Town come mid-August.

Tickets are priced at $10 each and one ticket covers one large item. Each household is permitted a maximum of two tickets. Eligible items for the pick up service include:

  • Household furniture, washers, dryers, and kitchen appliances (Please note: Fridges and freezers must be empty.)
  • Small equipment e.g. lawn mowers, hedge trimmers (Please note: Oil and gas must be removed.)
  • Barbeques
  • Bicycles and dismantled exercise equipment

“The Large Item Ticket Program is a revamp of our old pick up service that was removed due to budget constraints. We are hoping this new ticket program will create an affordable and sustainable large item removal service for our residents,” says Ian Mckay, General Manager of Planning and Infrastructure.

Tickets will be available for purchase until August 6 and the pick up service will begin on August 16. Ticket holders are asked to place their items on the curb on the evening of August 15 as crews will begin the pick-up early Monday morning and will not return for items added later in the day. The service is available for Stony Plain residents only. Private condominiums and commercial properties are not eligible.
