National Forest Week — September 17 to 23, 2023
WHEREAS Canada’s forests are a valuable, renewable resource that contribute to our economy and the livelihoods of our communities; and
WHEREAS Canada’s forests play a crucial role in maintaining healthy ecosystems, clean air and water and wildlife habitat whilst being an important aspect of climate change mitigation efforts; and
WHEREAS The Town of Stony Plain and its citizens rely on the surrounding forests for livelihood, health, and recreation; and
WHEREAS This annual one-week campaign with the theme of “Canada’s Forests: Supporting Biological Diversity” will be celebrated across Canada by individuals and organizations.
THEREFORE, I, William Choy, Mayor of the Town of Stony Plain, do hereby proclaim September 17 to 23, 2023 as National Forest Week.
