New Waste Collection Provider Begins Service in May

STONY PLAIN, AB: A new waste collection service provider will soon be rolling into Stony Plain. Beginning May 6, Integrity Waste Solutions will take over waste and organics collection for the community. While residents will notice a change in their waste bins, there will be no change to collection schedules or accepted materials.

To support a smooth transition, GFL will collect all grey/brown waste bins following their final pickup the week of April 29 to May 2. Residents are reminded to leave their waste bins at the curb after pickup so the bins can be collected by a second truck.

“We’re committed to providing reliable and efficient waste collection for our residents,” says Mayor William Choy. “This transition will help ensure continued high-quality service with minimal disruption. We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we make this change.”

New waste bins will be delivered by Integrity between April 28 and May 4. The new bins will be brown with an orange lid and will include a welcome package from Integrity taped to the lid.

“We know change can sometimes be confusing, but this transition has been planned to minimize disruption,” says Manager of Infrastructure Operations Paul Simons. “The only difference residents will see is a new bin at their curb. Collection schedules stay the same, and service will continue as expected.”

Residents may experience a short period between the removal of their old bin and the arrival of the new one. During this time, garbage bags should be kept indoors to avoid attracting wildlife. Do not place bags outside.

The green organics bins are not affected and will not be removed. Organics collection will continue as scheduled, with weekly organics pickup resuming May 6 to 9.

If a resident’s bin is not picked up or a new one is not delivered by May 4, they should contact Public Works at publicworks@stonyplain.com. Missed waste pickups must be reported by noon the day following the scheduled collection date.
