Nominations Open to Celebrate the People and Business Shaping Stony Plain

STONY PLAIN, AB: The people and businesses that lead, create, and give back are what make Stony Plain stand out. Nominations are now open for Stony Plain’s Awards of Excellence to recognize their achievements and celebrate their stories.

The Award of Business Excellence and the Award of Creative Excellence celebrate those whose work strengthens the local economy, builds community pride, and shapes Stony Plain as a place people want to live and visit. Anyone can submit a nomination, including self-nominations.

“These awards recognize the people and businesses who make Stony Plain what it is,” says Mayor William Choy. “If someone comes to mind right away, we encourage you to take the time to nominate them and share their story.”

The Award of Business Excellence recognizes businesses that demonstrate leadership through innovation, strong customer service, growth, and active community involvement. These businesses create jobs, support local initiatives, and help position Stony Plain as a strong and competitive place to do business.

“Our businesses are helping drive a resilient and growing local economy,” says Michelle Levasseur, Economic Development Manager. “Their impact goes beyond their day-to-day operations and plays a key role in shaping Stony Plain’s future.”

The Award of Creative Excellence celebrates individuals, organizations, and initiatives that strengthen cultural identity, support the creative economy, and enhance visitor experiences. Through collaboration, inclusion, and storytelling, these contributions help define Stony Plain’s character and bring energy to the community.

"Culture and tourism are about creating meaningful experiences that connect people to a place,” says Chantelle Laberge, Culture and Tourism Development Officer. “The people, organizations, and businesses behind those experiences help shape Stony Plain's identity and contribute to a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere.

Nominations close August 20, with recipients announced this fall at the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce Awards of Business Distinction Gala.
