Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal Presented to Tri-Region Volunteer Champions

Five area residents have been awarded with the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal for their volunteer contributions.

An award ceremony was hosted on December 6 to recognize Keelie Campbell, Jill Clare, Keenan Lewis, Lorraine Stewart, and Trisha Vyse. Each medal recipient demonstrates a commitment to their community by volunteering their time and giving their energy to lifting others up. Their contributions have worked to create stronger, more connected communities across the region.

“We are incredibly proud of the local recipients and are honoured to be able to share this achievement. Volunteers bring heart to communities. To the recipients, thank you for everything you have and continue to do for our region. Your dedication and compassion do not go unnoticed,” says Town of Stony Plain Mayor William Choy.

“Volunteers give so much to communities without asking for anything in return. From being leaders for local youth to advocating for social justice, the local medal recipients are actively building a more welcoming and supportive region where everyone is welcome. We are proud to see such compassion in our communities,” says Volunteer Development Officer Kristy Wilson.

The Platinum Jubilee Medal commemorates the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The medal is a tangible way for Alberta to honour Her Majesty’s service to Canada and recognize Albertans who have made significant contributions to the province.
