Refining the Strategic Plan for the Town of Stony Plain

The Town of Stony Plain’s Council is pleased to share the release of the updated 2021-2024 Strategic Plan, an important milestone in the Town’s forward-thinking efforts to ensure its leadership remains focused on key priorities and opportunities facing residents and business owners. The Strategic Plan provides a clear framework for the Town to operate utilizing evidence-based decision-making processes when considering service provision and financial commitments related to municipal partnership, local economic resilience, community development, and sustainability of the local, diverse ecosystem.

“We are committed to our strong vision of a resilient community and maintaining our proud municipal reputation. The refined Strategic Plan for 2021 – 2024 showcases that commitment, provides transparency in our goals, and highlights the key priorities for the next several years,” Mayor William Choy says. “Council is excited to use this Strategic Plan to work alongside residents, business, and neighbouring municipal partners to enhance the services, opportunities, and quality of life that Stony Plain affords to all.”

The release of this Strategic Plan outlines key steps to achieve the vision of Stony Plain; A connected community, embracing the future as a champion of progress and community values in a diverse metropolitan region of Alberta. To generate the five priority areas – governance and partners, community development, environmental responsibility, supportive infrastructure, and economic opportunity – the Town completed a municipal scan process, assessing current and historical practices, identifying unique challenges and factors critical to our citizens. These priority areas link Council’s vision to tangible goals and actions which enhance the future of Stony Plain. The Strategic Plan represents a key driving force behind the continued commitment to enhance quality of life as the historic and diverse town continues to grow into a flourishing urban municipality.
