Councillor Pat Hansard Appointed to Deputy Mayor
Councillor Pat Hansard has been appointed Deputy Chief Elected Official (Deputy Mayor). Councillors are appointed as Deputy Mayor for four-month terms to act as Mayor in the absence or incapacity of the Mayor. Councillor Hansard will serve until June 30, 2023 or until the appointment of the next Deputy Mayor.

Development Continues in Westerra after Amendment to Land Use Bylaw
A public hearing for Land Use Bylaw 2670/LUO/23 was held at last night’s Council Meeting. The bylaw was also given second and third reading. The amended Land Use Bylaw facilitates the next stage of development in Westerra, including a 31-lot subdivision with areas for park space and utilities. The area impacted is east of 48 Street and adjacent to Westerra Drive to the north.
First reading of the Land Use Bylaw update was given at the January 23, 2023 Council Meeting and following the reading, Administration underwent significant background work to gain an understanding of related challenges and best practices.
The updated Land Use Bylaw will be posted to the Stony Plain website.

Land Use Bylaw Amended for Future Development in South Creek
During last night’s Council Meeting, Town Administration recommended an update to Land Use Bylaw 2669/LUO/23 to advance the next stage of development in South Creek, which includes a 35-lot subdivision containing 29 zero lot line dwellings. The bylaw was also given second and third reading.
Administration underwent significant background work to gain an understanding of related challenges and best practices following first reading during the January 23, 2023 Council Meeting.
The updated Land Use Bylaw will be posted to the Stony Plain website.

2023 Assessment Review Board Members Have Been Appointed
Assessment Review Board Members have been appointed by Town Council for 2023. The Assessment Review Board Chair, Clerk, and panelists are appointed to hear assessment appeals.
This year’s Review Board will include Gerryl Amorin, Capital Region Assessment Services Commission, as Clerk, Raymond Ralph as Chair, and Darlene Chartrand, Tina Groszko, Stewart Hennig, Richard Knowles and Raymond Ralph as panelists.
