2022 External Audit Planning Report Presented to Council

The 2022 External Financial Audit Planning Report has been presented to Council. As per Canadian Audit Standards, an external audit of the Town’s financials is carried out annually and the planning report communicated to Council.

Findings from the financial audit will be presented at the April 24, 2023 Council Meeting.

Resident Appointed to Community and Social Development Roundtable

Keenan Lewis has been appointed to the Community and Social Development Roundtable. The Community and Social Development Roundtable works to enrich residents by building a strong, healthy, and connected community through enhancing civic engagement opportunities. Community members are recruited to Citizen-at-Large boards on an annual basis and as vacancies arise.

Keenan Lewis will serve on the board for a two-year term.

Planning for the Future of the Edmonton Metropolitan Transit Services Commission

An update on the Edmonton Metropolitan Transit Services Commission (EMTSC) has been presented to Council. On December 14, 2022, the City of Edmonton withdrew from the commission. As Edmonton is a critical member of the commission, the withdrawal is expected to have significant impact on the future of the EMTSC.

A Commission Board meeting was held in early January, and more information on the status of the commission and the impact of the withdrawal is anticipated in the weeks ahead. Administration will review approved transit budgets along with forthcoming financial information from EMTSC staff to determine next steps.
