Stony Plain Affordable Housing Guidebook and Toolkit Accepted for Information
Rural Development Network presented Council with an overview of the Stony Plain Affordable Housing Guidebook and Toolkit developed as part of the Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) Initiatives.
Council accepted the Stony Plain Affordable Housing Guidebook and Toolkit for information.
The Guidebook and Toolkit provide resources for affordable housing development in Stony Plain.

Recreation Facility Front End Debenture Bylaw Given First Reading
Council gave first reading to Bylaw 2742/DEB/26, a bylaw to authorize debenture borrowing in the amount of $3,800,000 for the construction of the Recreation Facility.
Construction of the Recreation Facility began in 2024 and continues into late 2026. The facility includes dry sports amenities and a six-sheet curling facility with an approved budget of $41,651,871. The debenture is required to fund the remaining developer off-site levy portion of the project.
Second and third readings of the bylaw are scheduled to be presented to Council on July 13, 2026.

Advocacy Priorities 2026 Accepted for Information
Council accepted Advocacy Priorities 2026 for information.
The priorities are intended to guide engagement with other orders of government, strengthen partnerships and support positive impacts for Stony Plain. The five priorities include:
• Funding and partnership to build a community recreation facility;
• Transportation infrastructure investment to support business and community growth;
• Health care and education investment to meet growing community needs;
• Funding and partnership to build affordable housing; and
• Partnership and support to enhance community belonging and public safety.
The priorities support the Strategic Plan 2026-2029 and will be advanced with Council’s leadership through targeted stakeholder engagement.

Engaging Youth Strategy Update Accepted for Information
Council accepted the Engaging Youth Strategy Update for information.
The Youth Engagement Strategy launched in fall 2025 and is approaching its first year of implementation. The update highlighted how the strategy is being put into action and how youth continue to be supported through the focus areas of belonging, empowerment and leadership.
The update noted 2025 youth engagement activity included 1,318 participants, 102 programs and 545 youth volunteer hours. Next steps include annual impact and review, a Developmental Assets Profile in 2027, ongoing leadership development, ongoing awareness and resources and volunteer recognition in 2026.
