Canadian Award for Financial Reporting Presented 

Council accepted the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting (CAnFR) for the Town’s 2024 Annual Report for the fourteenth consecutive year at last night’s meeting.
The CAnFR is awarded to municipalities that produce an annual financial report that is not only easy to read and well-organized, but also meets the criteria of the program standards. The report must exceed the basic generally accepted accounting principles, and provide a clear and comprehensive view of the municipality’s financial state.

2025 Year End Operating Results Presented

At last night’s meeting, Administration provided Council an update on the Town’s unaudited 2025 year-end financial results, which show an operational surplus of approximately $273,000 compared to budget. The surplus reflects a number of factors, including higher-than-expected investment income, additional grant funding, increased permit revenue, and savings in several operational areas. The results remain subject to change until the external audit is completed, although Administration does not anticipate significant adjustments.

Council approved transferring the operational surplus and several utility surpluses to appropriate reserves in accordance with Town policy. These transfers help support future capital projects, infrastructure needs, and financial stability. The Town’s final audited financial statements will be presented to Council in April 2026.
