Atim Creek Business Park Area Structure Plan Approved
Last night, Council gave a second and third readings to Bylaw 2734/D&P/26, adopting the Atim Creek Business Park Area Structure Plan following a public hearing.
The plan will help guide future development of lands located north of Highway 16A, west of Boundary Road, and east of Golf Course Road. The area is proposed as a major employment area, with commercial and industrial uses west of Atim Creek and mixed-use opportunities east of Atim Creek.

Land Use Bylaw Update Received Approved
Following a couple amendments to Bylaw 2735/LUO/26, Council gave second and third readings to adopt the 2026 Land Use Bylaw Update.
This year’s update includes administrative changes to improve clarity and consistency, with a focus on signs, roads, yard and lot requirements, and development permit requirement.

Cemetery Bylaw Amendment Approved
The Cemetery Bylaw Amendment provides administrative updates, terminology changes, and revisions to align the Town’s cemetery regulations with the Cemeteries Act and finalized cemetery plans.
The current Cemetery Bylaw was approved in March 2025 to regulate the Town’s cemetery and guide administrative and operational processes. As supporting procedures and operational manuals were finalized, updates were identified to improve clarity, consistency, compliance, and ease of administration.
At last night’s meeting, the Cemetery Bylaw Amendment was approved after first, second, and third readings.

Fees and Charges Bylaw Amendment Approved
The Fees and Charges Bylaw Amendment outlines cemetery fees ahead of the municipal cemetery opening in 2026.
The fees were developed through cost and revenue analysis, municipal and private cemetery comparisons, and the Town’s user-pay approach. The amendment supports fees that work toward full cost recovery, payment of interment fees at the time of service, and the creation of a Cemetery Stabilization Reserve to support long-term sustainability.
Council approved the Fees and Charges Bylaw Amendment after an amending motion regarding fees related to the veterans’ area fees, and first, second, and third readings.

Public Works Administrative Building Phase 2 Debenture Bylaw Receives First Reading
Phase 2 of the Public Works Administrative Building was approved as part of the 2026–2028 Corporate Plan and will include renovations to the former administrative building to support office space, a woodworking bay, expanded storage, a tool room, and a wash bay.
The bylaw authorizes debenture borrowing of up to $2,045,000 to support construction of Phase 2. Second and third readings are scheduled to return to Council on June 22, 2026.

2026 Property Tax Bylaw Approved
The 2026 Property Tax Bylaw authorizes the rates of taxation to be levied against properties in Stony Plain for the 2026 taxation year.
The approved 2026 municipal tax requirement is $26,022,132, including an estimated $199,566 from supplementary taxes. The municipal tax increase is 4.74%, made up of 1.72% for municipal operations and 3.02% for the Community Recreation Facility.
Residential assessments increased by an average of 6.79%, with the average assessed value of a single-family home increasing from $400,000 to $427,000. Based on the new average residential assessment, the estimated municipal tax impact is approximately $140.46 for the year.
