Regular Council Meeting Highlights for November 24, 2025

2025 Third Quarter Report Presented

At last night’s meeting, Administration presented the 2025 Third Quarter Report to Council. The report combines updates across departments and projects, serving as a measurement tool for evaluating budget progress and supporting the development of the Town’s Annual Report.


Council accepted the 2025 Third Quarter Report for information.

Following last night’s Council Meeting, corrections are being made to the Quarterly Report, therefore the finalized Report will be published to the Reports, Studies and Plan page later this week. 


Recommended Cemetery Fees Accepted for Information

Administration presented proposed user fees for the new municipal cemetery, which is set to open in 2026. The fees were developed using a 75% cost recovery model based on regional comparators and anticipated operating costs.


Council accepted the recommended user fees for the Stony Plain Municipal Cemetery for information.

Administration will be presenting additional details on the fees and charges to Council in early 2026. 


TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre Reserve Use for Boiler Replacement Grant Approved

Lenny Richer, General Manager of the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre, presented information on the planned replacement of a boiler unit in 2026. The TLC is applying for a Municipal Centre for Climate Action Change Grant and requested approval to use up to $250,000 from its restricted reserve fund as the required matching contribution.

Citizen at Large Board Appointment to the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board

At last night’s meeting, the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board recommended a Citizen-at-large appointment to fill one of its current vacancies. Following an interview process, Administration brought forward the recommendation of Kenneth Carr for appointment.


Council appointed Kenneth Carr to the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board for a three-year term ending December 31, 2028.
