Stony Plain, AB:
Get your papers ready for Stony Plain’s Shred & Go event, which is set to happen Saturday, September 24 from 9AM – 1PM at the Rotary Recycling Centre.

Shred & Go provides an opportunity for Stony Plain residents to safely dispose of personal and confidential documents at no cost. Shredding is a secure way to dispose of confidential documents including – but not limited to – financial documents, personal information, account details (passwords and login information), and mail.

“It is important to safeguard yourself against identity theft. Stony Plain’s Shred & Go event provides a safe and secure way to dispose of personal information,” says Mayor William Choy.  “This event not only helps to protect residents, but also compliments the Town’s commitment to environmental sustainability by reducing waste. I encourage residents to take advantage of the free service!”

The following event guidelines will be in place:

  • Shredding is for Stony Plain residents only and participants must provide identification with Stony Plain residency
  • Businesses are not eligible for free shredding
  • A 10-bankers box limit is in place – participants cannot return with additional material
  • No advance drop-offs will be accepted. Please arrive within the 9AM – 1PM time frame

“Shred & Go is an opportunity for residents to dispose of personal documents safely while reducing household waste. Previous shredding events have been popular in the community, and we are happy to provide this service again this year,” says Supervisor of Utilities and Environment Doug Fraser.
